Here are some items to start November 2008:

Subject: greetings
Just happened on this site(nice work!) and am wondering if the reunion went on for the 30th. I missed the 29th as I was at sea as usual. I've been living in Centerville for quite a while and see various classmates from time to time.
Please keep me updated.
Thanks.

2. As we prepare to vote this week Scott Perkins wanted to share this video from the 2004 election when he got the town of Barnstable a mention on the OReilly Factor which goes worldwide. Go to this site and hit play button: http://centerville02632.blogspot.com/2008/10/perkins-gets-national-air-time-2004-fox.html

3. ****Reminder****SAVE THE DATE****:
Informal 30th Reunion –Barnstable High School Class of ‘78
Friday, November 28th (the day after Thanksgiving)
7:00PM @ The Tikiport Restaurant, Rt. 132, Hyannis
Please contact other classmates who may not be on this BHS email list and let them know the plan.

To peruse the Tiki Port Menu go to their website: http://www.tikiport.com/ . According to the site Tiki Port has been serving up fried enjoyment in Hyannis since 1977. How many other year round businesses in food service have lasted that long in town? Jack's Lounge on West Main has been there forever but the Tiki Port has been an institution. A great date night in the early 80's was dinner at the Tiki Port and then dancing across the street at the Holiday Inn night club called Gee Willickers. G Willys was so high class that you had to wear dress shoes and a collared shirt. They had some good bands. There was another bar in the Capetown Plaza that was called Dante's Inferno next to IHOP. Another place for good bands and lots of cheap booze.

5. This letter was sent in from the Barnstable Patriot September issue and looks like it is signed by our old House Dean...could he still be alive? Here it is anyway:
It is astonishing to witness the proud Town of Barnstable (An All-American City) shilling for a for-profit company--THE BARNSTABLE--er--SALEM TROLLEY on its property. How did this travesty happen?
Cythia Cole has worked so hard and the results on Main Street have been more than remarkable for this to have occurred. She must be livid. So also must be our new Hyannis Chamber Director.
I have no issue with the TROLLEY owner(s) or her minion (with lawn chair and umbrella--as a matter of fact Choo-Choo is a friend of mine) they are only doing what good business people do, although I do have a few suggestions as it is all legal:
Why not hang the ‘Sandwich Board’ around JFK’S neck--It would be better seen. Why not dress the ‘associate” in railroad regalia with hat and train whistle? Other businesses could rent space as well: How about ‘Ronald McDonald’ in full clown suit? The Quizno’s guy from Rte 132?? The Blue Honda Monster out on West Main?? (Do we have a sign code??)
Granted there are more pressing issues in town, but this is so blatant I have to write this.
Next stop: A Town Council Meeting. Maybe a sufficient number of local officials will read this and prevent its recurrence next year or their embarrassment this year at an imminent meeting.
